wikis

I am fascinated by the Flat Classroom Project. Seems that must have taken a lot of training and start up time. I like the way each of the schools had its own rubric which shows collaborating does not drive the grading...It can be tailored to each school. It is hard for me to imagine what goes on behind the scenes of creating something collaboratively. How did the students collaborate to create the student biology 101 wiki? I am also confused by the relationship of Ning and wikis. Can someone enlighten me? (This is a test to see if anyone is reading my blog!)

Social Networking

Have joined the Global Education Collaborative. That was easy asis navigating. Read the discussion "Rolling on the Tundra" since my son and husband are Bowdoin graduates (polar bear mascot) and moreso out of interest. Interested in Apple Learning Exchange which provides curriculum, tech support, parent stuff etc. Joined Global Awareness Curriculum. One of the school initiatives was about the book If the World Were a Village. My former colleagues created a wonderful unit which I will check on and maybe share on this site. Maybe I can find ideas for curriculum for the April study tour teaching at Dandelion school. I skipped wikis to catch up so need to learn about wikis before finding other social networks.

play week web 2.0 awards list

OK The best way to describe my state of mind is awe and the realization that I am "sitting on the tip of the iceburg" as far as our 12 things are concerned. Just think, I could have gone along in life never knowing about any of the web sites, much less that there is a site that tells me which won the top 3 awards. I have only skimmed the awards and look forward to returning to books, food, content management (create surveys...cool) health...and what about Fun Stuff!! I can't wait to try out Hairmixer. More later including thoughts on applications to Primary Source (maps, travel...)

RSS Feeds

As someone who easily gets overwhelmed by the infinite quantities of information "out there" I think RSS Feeds will be very helpful. For my Primary Source work it will help as I gather articles for the China Study tour Reader and easily keep me up to date on what's happening in China. As I get more creative and daring I will add to this!!

new at this

Primary Source sure is keeping me on a learning curve. I am excited about the "12 things" and proud of this, my very first blog. Must learn the protocol...guess I don't have to sign.
